* 2023 Christmas Project
Our Do Good Christmas project this year is all about helping foster children as they transition this Christmas holidays. Many come from unfortunate situation with not even the basic needs.
What is Hope in a Suitcase?
Hope in a Suitcase Australia is a non-profit organisation run by volunteers who are incredibly passionate about showing every child who enters the foster care system that they are loved and valued by their community.
We aim to do this by giving them a suitcase of their very own to ensure they have a safe and secure place in which to pack their belongings and take with them wherever their journey may lead.
The suitcases are filled with essential items such as toiletries, (sanitary items for the older girls), underwear, a set of pyjamas and a change of clothing. They also include something to cuddle for the younger children, a toy, a book to read, a journal or colouring-in books and pencils to encourage creativity and provide a distraction away from their turmoil.
Public Church's care arm, 'Do Good,' has been dedicated to making a positive impact in the community. Through strong connections with various community-based organisations, we have been able to extend a helping hand to those in need. One of our primary focuses has been on providing support to organisations that feed the homeless, ensuring that the most vulnerable individuals have access to nourishing meals.
Additionally, we have actively engaged in companies that care for young people in crisis situations, who offer them a safe haven and necessary support. Moreover, our commitment to fostering a sense of joy and togetherness during the holiday season has led us to provide Christmas hampers to families in need, spreading warmth and cheer to those who may be struggling. Through our ongoing efforts, 'Do Good' continues to embody the core values of compassion, community, and making a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve.
